Hawaiian Pepper Jelly Grilled Cheese

Hawaiian Pepper Jelly Grilled Cheese

When you are looking for a mouthful of flavor, OHHHH my goodness this grilled cheese delivers! This is one of those recipes you can go full hog gourmet with artisan breads, fresh pineapple and gourmet cheeses or you can use things you already have around the house which still delivers AMAZING flavor!

Makes 4 sandwiches

Ingredients
  • 8 slices bread

  • 4 slices (cut about 1/2" thick) fresh Pineapple peeled & cored

  • 8 tablespoons Butter softened

  • 1- tablespoon your fav oil (I used canola)

  • 8 slices ham (or more!)

  • ¼ - 1/2 cup Jennifer's Kitchen Hot Confetti Pepper Jelly

  • 1 cup Gruyere Cheese shredded

  • 1 cup any other melty cheese shredded (great time to use up various bits of cheese!)

Instructions
  1. Add 1 tablespoon oil and 1 tablespoon butter to a large skillet and bring to medium heat. (non-stick or cast iron work best!)

  2. Add your pineapple slices to the hot skillet and cook until golden and the edges caramelize. Set them aside - we will use them in a bit!

  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread and place 4 slices of bread in the hot skillet butter-side down.

  4. Spread a thin layer of Hot Confetti Pepper Jelly over the top-side of the bread.

  5. Top the pepper jelly with slices of ham*, pineapple, and both cheeses.

  6. Next flip the other piece of buttered bread on top of your newly stacked fixings with toasted buttered side up.

  7. Once the bottom bread has turned golden brown, carefully flip the whole sandwich over to toast the other side of the sandwich until it is also golden brown.

*A bonus tip for the ham is to quick fry it in a skillet prior to getting started for even more MMMM's!

Ok! So that's the how-to's of how to crank out the most delish grilled cheese I have ever made at home! (YES, I MADE THAT - ooey-gooey-cheesey goodness pictured up above and then we destroyed it in minutes!
